Can you recognise a brand with your eyes closed?
Most brands have a visual identity. Few have a sensory one. Feeling is Intelligence is the framework I use to build one, turning how a product feels into a strategic decision.
What it is
Feeling is a form of intelligence. What we feel is information, and designing how something feels means designing what people remember.
Colour, material and finish are usually treated as decoration, applied after the real decisions are made. Feeling is Intelligence treats them as a strategic language with three tunable channels. Colour sets the emotional temperature before anything is touched. Material carries weight, warmth and history, and communicates integrity. Finish decides how an object feels in the hand.
Change the CMF, change the feeling.
I first presented Feeling is Intelligence at the International CMF Design Conference in Shenzhen, December 2025.
Brand, Feeling, CMF
A brand value becomes a named feeling. The named feeling becomes a specifiable CMF code. The value "human" becomes "high trust, warmth", which becomes sky and earth colours, low reflections, soft touchpoints or subtle metal highlights. This is the translation layer that turns an abstract brand workshop into something a production team can specify, source and build.
Feeling is physical
Neuroaesthetics shows that response to material and colour is a physiological event. A well-made space or product lowers cortisol and raises dopamine, serotonin, and oxytocin.
Circularity
Longevity and beauty are the same ambition.
What people are attached to, they keep. We work circularity through four lenses at once, technical, emotional, aesthetic, and system.
How it works
Feeling is Intelligence is the lens behind every engagement, from a two-day workshop to a multi-month research foundation. It’s how a brand-strategy conversation becomes a colour and material direction a team can specify, source, and build.
